Leon Hussey
Leon Hussey has an Associate Degree in Horticulture and has been in the horticulture industry for over 35 years. He has owned and operated a retail nursery and design/build landscape and maintenance company in Redmond, Washington with his wife, Linda, which they sold in April of 2002.
Leon’s volunteer activities have included : member of the Regional Review Committee for final compost use guidelines from the West coast to the Mississippi, Advisory for the Woodinville Water District: for low water use/display garden, Advisor to City of Redmond working with the City Engineer on compost amendment standards for residential and commercial application, Advisor to Pomegranate: on Lake Sammamish stewardship program, and consultant for residences and schools for setting up native habitat gardens, a Soils for Salmon speaker and was a U.S. Delegate to China in Horticulture.
Leon has also received recognition for his stewardship on Bear Creek by being the recipient of two Green Globe Awards with King County for: Environmental Education and Wildlife Habitat Protection, Redmond Chamber of Commerce Education award and an education award from the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association. He and Linda continue to manage the volunteer docents to lead tours along Bear Creek to teach environmental education and sustainable practices to children and adults.

Xue Gong
Xue was born in Jiangsu, China and came to US at the age of 19. She completed her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science in 4 years. Xue then worked at Microsoft for 10 years as a Software Engineer. In 2010, Xue started a construction company and built hundreds of housing units in greater Seattle area.
Being a mom, Xue became increasingly concerned about food safety and pollution all over the world. It wasn't until Xue met Leon on a gravel road close to her house that she became aware that there could be ways to reverse some of the damages done by our generation. Xue decided to join Leon and his team with her technology and entrepreneur background to fight the battle. In her words:"It is personal!"

Kerry White
Kerry grew up in New Zealand where he worked exclusively in orchard maintenance, development and commercial organic production practices.
Kerry's work and background for the past 14 year in the US has been working directly with commercial growers of high value crops like Strawberry, Cane berry and Wine grape. Kerry also specializes in water conservation management practices and the reduction of chemical fertilizer inputs with the golf course industry.

Paul Taylor
Paul graduated with the University Medal in physics from the University of NSW, received a PhD from University of Colorado, and worked at Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics, Oak Ridge National Labs, and Harvard Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. He now lives in both Australia and the US, researching and presenting on biochar and climate change. Paul has presented papers in many international biochar conferences in Australia, US and Brazil, and is author and editor of The Biochar Revolution: Transforming Agriculture and the Environment. He is a founding board member of Ithaka Institute for Carbon Intelligence and The Biochar Journal. At Ithaka Institute he co-developed the Kon-Tiki flame curtain biochar method, which after two years had been practiced in 57 countries. He is a presenter for Beyond Zero Emissions, an exciting and well-researched blueprint to provide 100% Renewable Energy for Australia in 10 years.
